Meet the Team

Kat McGinty
Executive Producer, Director, Editor, Drone Pilot
Kat is a filmmaker and humanitarian. After graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Film and Media Studies from the University of California Irvine, she worked her way through the many genres of entertainment in Hollywood including stage shows, docu-series, documentary films, and philanthropic videos. Having worked on films like History Channel’s Cola Wars and notable series such as Jersey Shore, Kat has collected a unique toolset that allows her to craft poignant stories covering a broad range of subjects. Her experience includes producing, directing and editing. In 2016 she co-founded Words into Actions, a nonprofit group joining media professionals with charitable organizations in need of marketable content to help increase awareness and funding. Her newest venture is the founding of her production company, Wandering Kat Media, aimed at bringing unique narratives to the big screen with a special focus being placed on dignified storytelling and an ethical, eco-friendly production process. When not at work, Kat volunteers her time with children at Aviva Family Services of Los Angeles and in Ghana at The Potter’s Village.

Sara Rose Carr
Producer
is a filmmaker and playwright residing in Los Angeles, CA. Since graduating from Loyola Marymount University’s School of Film and Television, she has written and directed the original pilot CONSCRIPTED, as well as the short films BARE BONES (official selection, Angaelica Film Festival 2017), DENNIS (co-writer/co-director), NOTE TO SELF (co-writer/co-director), and GOLDEN AGE. The original script for CONSCRIPTED was a finalist for Best Original Pilot at Film Outside the Frame (2016). As a cohort of Film Independent's Incubator Lab, she recently completed production of CONSCRIPTED, which will be circulating festivals this year. Sara has worked as a story editor at Rainier Films, a production company dedicated to the outdoors and adventure, bridging the gap between work and play. She has also worked extensively in television production and post production for networks such as ABC, Paramount, Facebook Watch, Animal Planet, Discovery, and Nat Geo Wild. When not sitting in front of a computer, she is often found car camping and road tripping throughout the Southwest. She eats a lot of beets and hates writing in the third person.

Lauren Lewis
Producer, Online Editor
Lauren has worked behind the scenes in the world of unscripted television as an Assistant Editor since 2014, and has brought multiple projects across the finish line as an accredited Online Editor. She’s delivered shows across a multitude of platforms, including Netflix, Facebook Watch, Paramount, Discovery, and Hallmark. She enjoys being at the forefront of a project -- seeing the absolute rawest form of the footage, and then being the last eyes on the project -- bringing each finished scene to life with color. Outside of the office you can find Lauren with her nose in a novel, hiking mountains with her rescue dog, Marty, or weaving tapestries on one of her various looms. She is a small business owner and a creative at heart, and she is constantly lending her optimism and thoughtful expertise to projects she is passionate about. When the topic of this film was first introduced, she quickly retorted, “why wouldn’t we do this?”

Carrie DuFresne
Director of Photography
Carrie graduated from the University of North Carolina in 2003 and made the move to LA with dreams of making movies. Instead she found herself on the set of America’s Next Top Model and quickly fell in love with the chaos and fast
pace of unscripted television. Unscripted work allowed Carrie the opportunity to learn the art of telling someone’s life story in its truest form-as it is unfolding. From competition shows to docu-series, Carrie has learned that with every new story told is the opportunity to learn from or relate to the subject at hand. Additionally, Carrie is a certified stedi-cam operator and a member of the International Cinematographers Guild.
